Post Re: orca v040 x-axis
I build it from the v020 and v030 plans ^^'

Except Camiel added one page for the y-axis it was mostly like for the v030, plus a little guess sometimes (the x-axis was the most difficult, so to say it's doable)

The pictures from Chris should be helpful :)

Ok, good to know - I will not wait for the plans then, and start building.

Chri,

Thank you very much to share you pictures in HD ! :)

I have a question about the Y movement : the T2.5 synchroflex belt seems
to lay on the bearings only, no lateral 'flanges' any more, like on the ORCA V030...

Does the belt stay correctly on track ?

Cheers,

Chris, Emmanuel,

I have a problem with the new aluminum pulleys and the stepper-motors; they do not fit very tightly; on my ORCA 0.20, they were PLA and I had to sand the inside of the pulley to get it over the stepper-motor axle.
Here I have the opposite, I can wiggle the pulley a little bit over the axle and the fact that you use the lock-screw to fix the pulley on the axle, will result in the fact that it is not nice aligned. I tried all puleys with all stepper-motors, but it is the same in all combinations.
Do you have the same problem ? Because this will result in a different radius when the pulley is turning with effect on quality ?

hmm no I didn't had this problem, the small pulley fit nicely on the motor shaft once tightened (but don't remember if it could wiggle a little before)

I've double-checked the problem; I tried the new ORCA .40 pulley's on one of my old stepper-motors (ORCA .20); same problem.
A few weeks ago, I've ordered some aluminum replacement pulley's for my ORCA .20 and tried those; they fit exact !
My conclusion is, that it must be the pulley's being the problem !

Solving this is not simple ....

They do lots of different pulleys and you can customise them with 2xM3, 2xM4 grubscrews, 5mm bore etc.

They're also usually REALLY quick.
Just an option. :) - although would be nice if the pulleys that came with it were ok.

I got hold of Camiel, explained the problem; he told me he had one similar case; that case as mine were coming out of the first batch of alu pulley's he received -
I will go see him and show him the problem and we'll work it out.
I consider this issue closed.

Excellent, exactly how it should be :)

we had not the necessary amount of countersunk screws so we only did the one which are really important.
we also reduced the length of the Y rod`s to mount the end-caps.

I Uploaded the pictures now, you can find them here: http://imageshack.us/g/194/orcav040v16.jpg/

:) mfg Chri

After I got to this part I had wished I had far more screws to go back and countersink a few others. Looks so much cleaner that way. I did my X this way too and got more screws to finish the bed.
