Post Extruder and Hot end v9
So the new extruder/hot end v9 looks nice in the videos from 20 June 2011... Any indication on when you will be selling these parts or when the designs for them will be online?

You say in the beginning of the video 'We don't use any gearing anymore'. What do you mean by that? How is the filament pushed through the nozzle?

Dear Pietr,

We can't give a definitive date yet, but it should be available for purchase soon.

What Camiel means with 'no gearing' is that it's a direct-drive; the geared M4 brass insert piece is connected to the stepper, meaning there's no transmission. This saves parts and space and torque isn't an issue (as some might expect).

Hoping to have informed you sufficiently,

On behalf of Gubbels Engineering,

Matthijs

OK, thanks for the quick response!

Another question: The new hot end is full PEEK (and bras), no PTFE. So there's no PTFE liner tube inside the hot end? What kind of liner does the new hot end use?

there is no liner needed anymore.
because the peek area is only really small (between brass top and bottom) it will just melt empty again and doesnt give jams (what normal happens with a PEEK hotend using PLA).

Ps, PTFE tube was also the problem with V6 hotend, PTFE tube wears out in time.. gets dents etc. however ive also had machines running production upto 14weeks on v6 so it might depend also on usage.. (if you by accident extrude 20x too fast for example.. can damage v6 maybe, but not v9 (only filament).

with only PEEK and brass there are no wearing parts anymore.
(PEEK is very strong.. )
