Post Gen6 Extruder/heater trouble
So today after doing some printing I went to start a new print and I noticed my heater wasn't heating up the hot end. I tried unplugging everything and reconnecting to repsnapper but it won't do anything. I also tried letting everything cool down for a few hours but nothing new.

Everything works but the heater. I can move in all directions but when I try to turn on the heater I see the LED flash twice rather faintly and I hear a dim sound like a clicking or buzzing.

Any thoughts? Have the components for the heater gone bad? Is there a warranty on these ? lol

Thanks for any help :-)

Brandon

I guess you have a short in your heater connection.

Grab an ohm-meter and measure between the thermistor connections and between the heater connections.

Heater should be 5 to 10 ohms, thermistor should be around 100K ohm at room temp.

Ill have to check to see if thats the issue. If it is....is there anything I can do to fix it? Or work around it?

Fixing is the only solution.

If you have a short: remove it. If your heater burned out: replace it.

Most probably it`s your wiring.

I'm having some issues with the heat core not working or working when it shouldn't.

Recently replaced nichrome wire heat with a resistor unit. Gen6 heated without turning on the heat via sw. Now the heater goes on via sw but no heat to the resistor. Been playing around and found only 19200 will lock in to communicate with my computer.

Have the first run of Gen6 and Camiels Repsnapper. Not out for top of the line printing atm, just want it to heat and work.

The Firmware of the Gen6 (Marlin) want to communicate with 250 000, so you have to set this on repsnapper, or change the baudrate in the FW. Better you forget Repsnapper and work with Pronterface and Sfact (or slic3r).
