Quick Overview
Orca v0.42 DIY-kit (Unassembled - PRE-ORDER - 3-4 weeks lead time)

(note: this will be v0.42... more news/info on that soon)
Orca v0.42 DIY kit is a build kit to build a complete 3D printer including heated bed that can print both ABS and PLA (bio-)plastic . Version 0.42 is in final development stage, but documentation is incomplete atm,

v0.40 is buildable in one afternoon, mainly due to all linear bearings (10x lm8uu for x, y and z), plugnplay hotend and a new finetuned/optimized frame for even faster building/finetuning.
Alot less aluminium is now used, therefore less weight and a smaller footprint compared to v0.30, Orca v0.40 has a footprint of 28 x 38 cm (or 11 x 15 inches), but the build volume of 040 is increased.
Print volume is 25 x 22 x 19 cm (or 10 x 8,5 x 7,5 inches) for Orca v0.40 (depends a bit on hotend & finetuning setup)

The print quality of v0.40 is also much improved due multiple reasons, but also beacuse we designed a completly new belt systems (and this time more according to specs/standards.)
v0.40 has finer T2.5 belts now and are standard size 6mm wide and all pullies are now aluminium for more accurate printing.

v0.40 comes with a plugnplay heater/thermistor for the hotend, so no more glue'ing / taping needed.
The plugnplay extruder set also fits older v9 heaterblock with minor adjustments (thats what im printing with lately) , however hotend v10 has a new / optimized heaterblock for the plugnplay set.

For the plastic parts a color can be selected and It is also possible to choose an anodised aluminium color, And a hotend / filament size must be choosen (1.75mm or 3mm).

Orca v0.42 DIY kit is a build kit to build a complete 3D printer including heated bed that can print both ABS and PLA (bio-)plastic .

Version 0.42 is in final development stage, but documentation is incomplete atm,
Biut should be completed over the coming weeks, we hope to be able to include full manual in all 040 kits, as well as a memory stick with latest firmware/files etc
It is at this time unsure if the first batch will get the manual/memstick already, however everything should be avaible online that is necessary by that time too.
And on a side note, 040 is alot the same in building as 030, only alot of things are 3x faster and 4x easier..

v0.40 is buildable in one afternoon, mainly due to all linear bearings (10x lm8uu for x, y and z), plugnplay hotend and a new finetuned/optimized frame for even faster building/finetuning.
The rectangular print volume gives a big diagonal size (33 cm or 13 inches).

Alot of things that were very annoying on 030 (for example X-belt connection to x-carriage) is now a 1min job with easy sliding the belt in and just two screws to tighten the plastic parts/x-belt clamp.
On a side note, alot of the plastic parts are drawn so they are easy injection moldable (something that i do automatically from my previous CAD work..) so probably 60-70% is simple open-closed moldable no sliders needed.. hint hint ;)
v0.40 comes with a plugnplay heater/thermistor for the hotend, so no more glue'ing / taping needed.
The plugnplay extruder set also fits older v9 heaterblock with minor adjustments (thats what im printing with lately) , however hotend v10 will have a new / optimized heaterblock for the plugnplay set.

The Z-studding is now M10 thread, so its upgradable to ACME thread in near future (which starts at 10mm), this might be v0.45.. who knows.

This time we also made parts for the X, Y and Z optos, the Z opto holder is actually very finely adjustable with only 1 hand.. Also the axle are now being held with the (from 030 optional) axle holders, which make sure the axis dont rotate and the axis can be removed very quickly from frame this way.

For the plastic parts a color can be selected and It is also possible to choose an anodised aluminium color, And a hotend / filament size must be choosen (1.75mm or 3mm).

The 040 frame also has (just as 030) mounting holes for our new touchscreen electronics coming in a few months.
